Jane, had a mastectomy years ago and decided to get a stylized lizard
skeleton integrating the scar as the spine of the lizard. She has this to say about the experience and Sasha: “The
entire process was wonderful. Lizards have always had a special meaning for me and I wanted to use that symbol, with
all its rich, very personal and empowering energy my sense of wholeness, not a shame based ‘cover up’ or to try
to make a terrible experience more tolerable, but to claim my selfhood and the empowerment that gave me. Sasha and
I spent a lot of time deciding which form would fit my intention before any ink was used. It was a very mindful decision
on my part and with her input, I was able to choose the design that was exactly right for me. It has been about 4 years
since I got my tattoo and whether only I know that it’s there or if I’m showing it off to people, I retain the
sense of empowerment it symbolizes.”
