Frequently Asked Questions
What is micro needling?
Miro Needling is the process by which collagen reproduction is stimulated by micro punctures in the skin. These trigger the body’s natural healing protocols, including the production of collagen, resulting in smoother, younger skin.
How does micro needling work?
When the skin is injured, it goes to work reproducing new skin cells, collagen, and elasticity. The tiny punctures of micro needling cause this process to occur without creating any additional scarring.
How soon can I expect improvement?
Most clients see improvement in the first month, although some require a couple of treatments to see the improvement. Collagen takes time to grow and build up, so improvements will continue for up to 4-6 months after your treatments.
Micro needling is a more a marathon than a sprint, with the results taking time to build up.
How long to the results last?
The good news, the results are long lasting: scars and stretchmarks improvements tend to stay indefinitely, while wrinkles reductions will last 3-5 years. Some clients use Micro Needling to prevent wrinkles from appearing by needling fine lines as they begin.
What is the down time following a Micro Needling session?
The skin will be red, with lines and scars looking a bit like cat scratches. This redness will diminish over a period between 3-6 days. Most clients can return to regular activity in about 3 days.
Is Miicro Needling safe?
Yes, the procedure is very safe. Because there is no product injected into the skin, there is virtually no side affects, aside from the redness of the skin.
Some skin is prone to hyper pigmentation. This works to advantage in scars needing more pigmentation. This skin can be needled for other scars and wrinkles, but care should be taken to avoid sun during healing. Let your tech know if your skin hyper pigments to discuss how to get the best results.
