People seldom get tattoos with the expectation that they will want to remove them someday; but situations change, tattoos become blurry or fade, and sometimes a tattoo no longer fits your personality or lifestyle. Let’s face it; most of us recognize that some of the things that seemed like good ideas in our teens or early twenties just don’t make sense anymore when we reach our 30s, 40s, 50s, or 60s.
As a tattoo artist, Sasha Merritt has the advantage of knowing how the ink was put into the skin in the first place, and she doesn’t judge people for their tattoos or their decision to have a tattoo removed.
Dragonfly Ink is the only tattoo studio in San Francisco to offer saline tattoo removal, using TATTOO VANISHSM, a proven method that is faster and less expensive than other tattoo removal options. The TATTOO VANISHSM saline removal system also creates less discomfort than other methods, it removes all colors, and it is less damaging to the skin than other tattoo removal procedures.
The saline removal process is very similar to the regular tattoo process in that it uses similar equipment and procedures. But instead of pushing ink into the skin, the saline removal system uses a special solution – made primarily of sea salt –to create an osmotic reaction. As the cells lift due to osmosis, they push the ink out of the skin.
Saline tattoo removal generally requires 50% to 75% fewer treatments than laser tattoo removal, and unlike laser removal — which relies on wavelengths to target specific colors — saline removal removes all colors of ink. Saline is also a viable option for the removal of all cosmetic tattoos, whereas laser removal is not recommended for certain areas or colors.
Some of the reasons people want to have their tattoos removed include:
- Tattoos on hands, necks, or faces for people who need to look more “professional” for job interviews and promotions.
- Tattoos with the names of former lovers.
- Artistic tattoos with flaws in them.
- Cosmetic tattoo mistakes.
- People celebrating growth and changes in life.
- Parents whose small children are frightened by their tattoos.
- At-risk youth trying to change things around.
- Women and men who want to change or update their look to adopt a more current fashion.
